Reheated Shreds of Dream Contents in a Write-Up Format
The real challenge is to meander without restraint from one line, word or thought to another with as little restraint coming from conscious self as possible. Should it be the shreds of dreams that should be the starting points of such journeys into our non-, sub- and unconscious? What I can haul from what I still retain in my waking memory is standing on a workman's ladder close by other two with people on them who I subsequently try to protect in the tumult of crowds steaming by. I talk to other people who come to oversee the larger event this dream sequence is part of. Strangely, what memories of dreams I have seem to melt away in my very hands, as a handful of snow would. As if my attention heats the leftovers of dream content into reheated shreds of what recedes into the receptacle of our minds that are bottomless rabbit holes and treasure troves of imagination at one and the same time. German formulations do come forward, such as vorbei, zugleich, and some other language shades that I need to circumvent in order to discover their English equivalents with a mixture of recognition and excitement of a person who found what one looked for for a while, however short. As is a network of linguistic equivalents was slowly being cast over the working of my writing mind.
A Blog Foreward with References to Aragon and Joyce
It's more a poetic debt to Aragon's avant-guarde experiments with writing techniques than much else that I will be presenting at this blog platform. It's these hours of the day when mind needs to be jump started into a high gear of awokenness that this exercise, hopefully performed daily, will be of use for. The automatic writing emphasis seeks to remove the precondition of being logical so that what subconscious causes for our private writing blocks there are could be dealt with in as subconscious a manner, as possible. In other words, if subconsciousness is a language that it should be possible to address it in so far more effectively, or the more effectively, the more writing diction and/or style comes closer to articulating the unconscious processes, contents and events that drive our conscious mental process from within, without and beyond. In other words, playfullness can have its non-playful uses when approached seriously enough, it being a self-conscious paradox of this initiated process that owes some of its inspirational debt to Joyce's Finnegan's Wake in that it is also an effort to approach the psychological traumas of translation between multiple languages that remain exercises in linguistic betrayal.
